Drás

JHCadminAras 7 Races

Appearance | Drás are bipedal reptiles standing an average of 5-6 feet tall. They shed their scales and armor plates every 60 years. They are primarily green, red, yellow, orange, and blue. They typically have three fingers and four toes that end in sharp claws. Some have the appearance of miniature dragons. Drás have green blood.

Location | Originally they lived in the holts scattered across Aras, coming together with the Dragons to incubate their eggs.  But during and after the Dragon/Drás War, the Drás moved their holts to live side by side with the Dragons. The Dragon/Drás Confederation live together in the same weirs and not separate places due to the belief that the races will again attempt to annihilate the Dragons and Drás.

Rearing Young | Drás eggs are incubated together with Dragon eggs. After The Passing and the young hatch, they are raised by elder Drás who train them until they reach the Age of Reckoning

Lifespan | Without regularly ingesting Eímai’s fruit and water they live at most 4,000 years. With ingesting they live at most 8,000 years. Since Drás have dedicated themselves to protecting Aras from Ba’rel’s Legion, it is rare for a Drás to enter Eímai’s Rest from natural causes.

Governance | The Drás are led by a council of five elders who are the oldest and wisest.

Attributes/Special Abilities | A few can breathe fire and fly. They have the same ability as Dragons to see the good and evil in an individual. However, this ability may be warped or hindered by the Drás’ emotions or spiritual state.

Notable Tradition | They pass on all the good and most pure memories and experience to their offspring through a ritual called The Passing. They lay their hand onto their egg and say, “To the next generation I give my best that they may live as Eímai best.” During the Dragon/Drás War they were afraid that Drás hatchlings filled with only good and innocence would be easy prey for those hunting them. They wanted to pass on their memories of what the other races were doing to them so that they would not consider them a friend. After much searching, they were able to find a way to pass on all their memories. Therefore, they changed the ritual. However, what they did not know was that the Drás who had “discovered” the secret to changing the passing was really a servant of Ba’rel. He also did not know that their darkest memories and desires were what were being passed to their offspring. Ba’rel servant also told them that they had to stop pouring Eímai’s water over their eggs because that would undo the ritual.  They added the lie that the reason why the Dragons on the Drás were losing the war was because Eímai had turned his back on them and had become their enemy. He never loved them to begin with and He showed His hatred by slowly annihilating them instead of just wiping them off of the face of the Parrésia in an instant. Thus, their dependence on Eímai diminished as each generation got darker. Eventually the only Drás who do not perform the perverted ritual were those in the Outcast Clan and a minority of Drás in Aras.

Special Note | After the War factions of the Drás and Dragons joined to form the Dragon/Drás Confederation. The Confederation refuses to have any contact with the other races and strive to completely self-sufficient. They have not forgiven the crimes of the War and passed their bitterness to their offspring. Note: The Confederation is the only group of surface dwellers who has the best relations with the Ichtaca.

Knightly Order | Élu

Drás who hatch with warrior traits as the dominant part of their personality become Élu. It is believed that Eímai chose them to be an Élu because He made these traits dominant. While Élu still have to go through warrior training, they are prodigies and learn faster than other Drás.

Crest | two claw slash across a red tongue of fire
